Countdown for Durgapuja has been Started

Yesterday, 03rd July 2011 was Rathajatra. That means the coundown of Durgapuja has been stated. On the Rathajatra, ritually, the preparation of the idol are started. Three more months and then "Uma aasben baaper ghare" (Godessa Durga will come in the home). 03rd October 2011 will be Mahasaptomi. Let us recapitulate some great memories of our own Durgapuja.
In the picture, a Bengali housewife is holding a plate full of Shiuli (in Bengali language), the flower of Autumn in Bengal. She has wore gold jewellery with sankha and palaa in both hands and iron in one hand (typical bangles worn by Bengali married women. Sankha is of white colour, palaa is of red colour). Shiuli flower is the official flower of the state of West Bengal and has some sentimental attachment with Bengali as it marks the arrival of Goddess Durga, the biggest festival in West Bengal.
For Bengali, arrival of Goddess Durga means a daughter coming her own home from her in-laws house for some days with her children.
From Mahasaptomi to Vijaya Dasomi she stays and give smile to everybody.
The most happy persons are Children with new dresses and lots of play without study.
Kumari puja, a typical ritual in some places. Swami Vivekananda started this ritual. Goddess Durga is symbol of devine power and motherhood. Here devotees give their puja to a girl child in front of Goddess Durga as future devine power and motherhood.
Sondhi-Puja. The junction of two great days, Mahaastomi and Mahanabomi. At this moment the evil power Mahisasura was defeated by the devine power, Godess Durga.
The prayer on Vijaya dasomi, please come back soon in the next year.
Sindur Khela, a trational game among married women, with sindur, traditionary considered as the third eye of maried women.
Visarjan on Vijaya Dasomi with broken heart.
Catching some memories and art works in the mobile camera was always beautiful.
Let us wait for three months for some unforgetable good memories. The persons who are outside the hometown have already collected their tickets for journey to meet with the relatives and friends in the hometown. Marketting will be stated after sometime. The married men, please hide your credit and debit cards, planning of the ladies is already over. The countdown has already began.
